Let’s take a look at some of the options that are available:

Wide-aisle

Wide-aisle pallet racking is among the most commonly used forms of pallet racking. It is made up of vertical frames and horizontal beams, all of which are fully adjustable which makes it a very versatile form of pallet-racking.

Very Narrow Aisle (VNA)

If you’re looking for a way of making the most of a high roofs, then VNA (very narrow aisle) racking should be your first choice. Used in conjunction with ‘man-up’ / ‘man down’ trucks you can store pallets very high within slim line aisles.

Double-deep

Just like wide-aisle racking, double deep racking utilizes adjustable frames and beams in order to store pallets in two’s at each picking face.  This increases warehouse efficiency by increasing the amount of storage possible.

Drive In / Drive through

For storage of bulk items, drive-in racking is ideal. Pallets are loaded close together which offers an increase in your overall warehouse storage capacity.

Dynamic push back

Dynamic push back racking uses trolleys and steel guide channels to hold pallets at a maximum of four pallets deep, per level. It is relatively quick to install and has a throughput 25% faster than Drive-in racking.

Dynamic pallet flow

If you are looking for automatic stock rotation then dynamic pallet flow racking is an obvious choice. It is loaded from the rear and off-loaded from the front with pallets placed on an inclined roller conveyor track which is supported by racking. It saves up to 60% more space than conventional pallet racking.

If you are interested in finding out more about any of these racking options, or other styles of racking like mobile and shuttle racking then please call us on 0845 689 1300 to discuss your needs in more detail.

Wide Aisle pallet racking: an overview

Pallet racking is used in warehouses that store and distribute large amounts of products. The most common form of pallet racking, and also one of the most popular, is the wide aisle variety of pallet racking.

This kind of racking system is made up of vertical frames and horizontal beams that form the basis of its system used for storing palletised loads. For busy warehouses, it is favoured for a simple and easy to access design where any pallet is within reach.

Wide aisle pallet racking is quite versatile and all of the beams are fully adjustable (in 50mm increments) which means you can adjust them to meet your business’s needs. Because of its versatility and easy access, wide aisle pallet racking is often a popular choice for new warehouses owners and warehouses where there are peaks in demand.

The process of installing wide aisle pallet racking should be straight forward and quick. Logical Storage possess many years of experience in installation and all of our racking is designed to meet all European & British standards of quality. Why is it so important to carry out rack inspections?

Every working environment has its dangers, and if you are in charge of a workforce it is important that you find ways to safeguard your staff. Looking after their health will not only give you peace of mind but also protect your business.

The Health and Safety at Work Act (1974) ensures that all businesses follow strict guidelines to protect their workers. This means that as an employer you are responsible for maintaining a safe working environment, failing to do so could lead to prosecution.

If you operate a warehouse or factory it might be possible that you, like many others, have chosen pallet racking as an effective way to store your stock and to minimise your picking times. However, did you know that it is especially important to have your racking inspected for any potential faults? A fault could in fact reduce load capacity by as much as 40%.

Racking often holds heavy or fragile stock, which in the event of a breakage could mean damage to your stock or even worse harm to an employee. Aside from making sure that weight is always correctly distributed and that you never overload your pallet racking – you should also be certain to have regular racking inspections conducted by professionals. We recommend inspections on at least an annual basis.

Logical Storage has a team of experienced specialists who can make recommendations on how to prevent damage as well as performing remedial works such as racking repair to damaged equipment. Contact us on 0845 689 1300 to find out more.

Different uses of office partitioning

Office partitions are a cost effective way to create office space within a larger area without the need for costly restructuring. If you need a space to hold meetings, complete paperwork or for your staff to relax then a partition can be the perfect solution to your problems.

In order to foster the growth of their business, many organisations will choose to uproot their business and move elsewhere, feeling that they have outgrown their current premises. What they don’t realise is that there are many ways in which you can expand the capacity of your current operations base without the expensive ordeal of relocation.

As well as other storage solutions, like shelving, racking and mezzanine floors – office partitions can provide you with a logical way to stylishly improve your existing workspace.

Partitions can be constructed in a variety of ways and can include both sound proofing and fire proofing, dependent on your requirements. They can be colour coded to match corporate branding and can include frameless glass or coloured blinds.

It might be that you require a space to do paperwork in which case a sound proofed partition can give you the distraction free space you require, or perhaps your staff need somewhere to eat their lunches in peace.

A secluded area is also sometimes needed for client meetings. You may need a space that is quiet, relaxing and shows your business in its best, most professional light. A partition adorned with your company colours can offer a touch of sophistication to a busy work area.

Based in the Midlands, Logical Storage Solutions create solutions for businesses with an emphasis focussed on quality, attention to detail and customer satisfaction.

To find out more about how your business could benefit from an office partition or other forms of storage systems call us today on 0845 689 1300.

Make an impact with mezzanine floors and office partitions

If your office or work environment has seen better days then it might be time to think about a refurbishment.  By improving the space that you and your team work in, you could increase productivity, motivate your staff and create a long lasting impression with your clients and prospects.

If your office area, shop floor or other workspace is cluttered and messy then it can be difficult for workers to perform to the best of their abilities and having a disorganised work space can be off putting to clients. If you want to make the most of your space, organising your inventory is a good start but how else can you improve your operation?

Mezzanine floors

If you have a high ceiling then you could use mezzanine flooring to utilize space that might currently be wasted. In a warehouse situation, this would enable a more even spread of stock throughout your warehouse and may also help to speed up your operations.  If you run a retail business then a mezzanine floor could allow you to hold more stock on the shop floor and maximise potential profit.

Office partitions

If you work in an open plan area, the installation of an office partition can make a great addition to your layout, especially if you are in need of a space to hold meetings with clients or a staff room for your workers to relax. You can also consider soundproofing, which would help eliminate any external noise from a busy warehouse and ensure that your meetings remain confidential. Racking systems may also be beneficial to certain kinds of businesses.

Logical storage designs and installs mezzanine floors, office partitions, racking systems and lots more, helping to make the most of space and leave a great impression on anyone who visits. For more information please visit http://www.logicalstorage.co.uk/ or call us today on 0845 689 1300.

5 ways to save vital space in the workplace

Businesses up and down the country are struggling with a big problem: space. As the economy has come out of recession and has been slowly growing and heading back towards the level they were at before the economic crash, businesses are facing a dilemma. They are doing more trade as the economy improves, and so want to expand, but the recovery isn’t strong enough for businesses to feel they can take a risk on new premises. So what should they do?

To grow with the economy and not get left behind, they need more space. But to move to bigger premises at such a delicate time would be for many businesses a leap of faith too far. Fortunately, there are lots of ways businesses can capitalise on their existing space to make sure they use every inch of what they already have, allowing them to grow without having to move. Here are five key ways:

  1. Consider a mezzanine floor. If your warehouse, offices, retail store or any other commercial building has lots of space above the ground floor, then it is currently being wasted. A mezzanine floor could double the amount of space you have for selling products, storing products, distribution or could even be used for offices.
  2. Make sure you are using the most efficient type and size of racking and shelving for your business needs – discuss the options with professionals to make sure the storage you have is right for you.
  3. Repair any damaged shelves or racking. If you have racking which cannot be used because it is unsafe then it is a waste of resources. Get it repaired or replaced.
  4. Have regular racking inspections to prevent any future problems before it’s too late.
  5. Use office partitions and space planning to make the best use of your office space, so that way you can fit more people into the space and work in a more efficient and effective manner.

Here at Logical Storage, we know that no two businesses are the same, and may need to consider one, all, or a combination of some of these solutions to help create more space for their company to flourish. Give us a call on 0845 689 1300 to see how we can help you.

Using mezzanine floors in a retail space

Implementing mezzanine flooring into your retail space can help you to maximise stock and improve your overall profits.

First impressions count for everything and nothing looks worse than a retail unit that is badly arranged or under stocked. One of the most common reasons for under stocking a shop is a lack of space and storage. If you have little space to keep your products then it’s easy to run out of your best sellers. A lack of space can also stop you from being able to arrange your stock the way you want to, leaving you with a cluttered space that doesn’t give off the right impression to your customers.

Mezzanine flooring can be a great solution, but one common fear is that a mezzanine floor will look too industrial for say, a furniture outlet. The truth couldn’t be more different though – they can be customized in a number of ways to make them look modern and attractive.

Another common myth that holds no ground is that introducing mezzanine flooring into your premises will disrupt customers and reduce your footfall. As it doesn’t usually require planning permission, mezzanine flooring can be installed very quickly and is unlikely to affect your shoppers.

When you consider the alternative, to move to a new location, choosing a mezzanine floor seems to be the obvious option. Not only would purchasing a new property be more expensive but you would also have to consider the logistics of moving stock, uprooting employees and finding a way to inform your existing customers where you have moved to.

Mezzanine flooring can help you to maximise overhead space that you might not have thought about using in the past, helping to transform your store and allowing you to sell more of your product.

Improving your office can greatly enhance your business

Whether it’s a setting for your employees to work hard on their daily tasks or an area for your clients and customers to visit, the layout of your office can be incredibly important.

Clients, customers and prospects will not be impressed by somewhere that is dark, dingy, badly lit, cluttered, and altogether unwelcoming. Chances are that they will feel that a badly laid out office is a reflection of the standard of your work. They will most probably be right. And with employees spending around eight hours a day in the office, this dark and cluttered environment will make for rather a depressing place to work, which will most likely be reflected in their productivity.

A bright, well lit and well laid out office, with a modern looking interior will make your employees feel happier at work. It will make your staff feel valued and inspired to work in your offices. If your office is laid out well it will be easier for them to find their way around, and makes work more efficient and productive.

Improving your office layout is probably quicker, easier and cheaper than you think. Logical Storage have experienced space planners who can help you to get the most out of your existing offices without having to move premises. There are a wide range of office partition systems available which include bespoke doors, frames, ironmongery, manifestation to glass partitions, and integrated or stand alone window blinds. They are incredibly flexible, and can be installed and moved quickly and easily, with minimum disruption to your business.

A well laid out, friendly, modern looking, welcoming office can therefore have a big impact on your staff and your clients, and can make your business more efficient and more productive.
